I. Smith Lobster Co. has been providing seafood to global markets since
the original company’s founding in the mid-1930’s It is our goal to
offer top-quality lobster throughout the year, with product sourced as
far north as Newfoundland and as far south as the Maine coast.
Started
as a salt fish business by brothers Robert and Wilbert Smith in 1935,
the company has grown to become a significant player in the seafood
industry. To reflect the company’s focus on the live lobster market, the
company has been renamed R. I. Smith Lobster, and is still a
family-owned business.
Lobster
is stored in both our pound and refrigerated storage tanks in Bear
Point and Shag Harbour, Nova Scotia. This allows for a large storage
capacity, facilitating our ability to provide product nearly year-round.
